Wimberley P-5 Camera Body Plate Review

The Wimberley P5 Camera Body Plate is a high quality universal camera body plate.

Use it to attach a camera with a small to medium lens to a tripod head or other accessory accepting an Arca-Swiss Quick Release Adapter – such as the Arca-Swiss Z1 Ball Head.

The machined, anondized aluminum P5 is quality-made, featuring a relatively low profile and full compatibility with the vast number of clamps I've used it in including those from Acratech, Arca-Swiss, Kirk, Oben, Vanguard and RRS. This small and light plate does not get in the way – simply mount it and forget it.

There may be some better body plates for specific camera bodies and I am a big fan of L-plates, but the Wimberley P5 Camera Body Plate is one of the best universal mounts available. I change equipment frequently – but I don't want to buy a new plate for every body I own. The P5 is the answer for me.

The Wimberley P5 Camera Body Plate mounts solidly on most Digital SLRs but Rebel users should note that this plate (and most others) covers the bottom-mounted battery/memory card door. Simply keep the provided hex key wrench with you.

With a Wimberley P5 mounted on your camera, attaching to compatible clamps is very fast and easy.
