In looking for something different for the shot of this young girl in her playing-dress-up clothes, we positioned her shoes to balance the visual weight of the image. Of course, it's all about the shoes anyway. The lighting is by Elinchrom and the background is Savage rolled paper.

When the beach is looking barren and unexciting, go find the grass. Then get down low. The sand and blue sky provide uninterrupted color to hold the viewer's eye in the frame in this frame.

If the kids feel very pretty or very silly, it is easier to get smiles on their faces. I don't remember which helped generate this smile, but ... it doesn't matter as the smile was a good one.
