These Canada Geese on the bank of the Susquehanna River (PA, USA) just couldn't keep their mouths closed. Somewhat unusual is that I am below these birds.

The Adam T. Bower Memorial Dam (formerly known as the Sunbury Fabridam), located in Sunbury, PA and pictured here, is the longest inflatable dam in the world. It is inflated during the summer recreation/boating season and deflated during the coldest half of the year. Some debris needs cleaned off of one of the bags.
 
Colors in this shots are a combination of a setting sun (warm) and shade (cool). This 1/10 sec shot was taken handheld - thanks to OS a a stable (squatted) position.

With only the sky and a field with uniformly growing plant-life in the frame, there are few distractions from the main subject.

A slow/long shutter speed stands no chance of stopping the motion of water over a dam - hopefully you get the feeling of the power in the water.

Ever see a horse shake? If you did, you know what I'm taking about when I say there is a lot of movement going on during this event. It's much more eye-opening if you are on them during the shake.

A pair of horses do what horses do most of the time - graze. A wide angle focal length creates depth and emphasizes the close subject.

The sunlight from the first and last hour of the day provides sweet (warm-colored) light for your photos. Add a few clouds and even a mundane landscape can come alive under sweet light.

As parents, our kids need to be a top priority in our lives - and this means spending time with them. Teaching them the love of photography will give you something to do together. What does this have to do with a mushroom? My oldest daughter finds them fascinating and loves to photograph them. We often do this together.

I love just-emerging leaves backlit by a rising sun. Especially after a long winter, the light green and red colors looks amazing.
