This cute little blue-eyed girl is posing just inside an open garage door. This is one of the easiest (and inexpensive) lighting methods for great results. Stand the subject just inside an opening (behind the direct sunlight) and shoot away.

A young girl gallops her Quarter Horse past the camera. AI Servo was used to track the fast-moving subject during the 10fps burst this shot was taken from. Top-most AF point was used with very good results under warm, late day conditions.

A short whistle brought this quarter horse to full attention. A 500mm lens at f/4 on a 1.3x body creates a nice green blur out of the pasture background.

Want to make a little kid smile? Ask them to run toward the camera as fast as they can. Shoot a few 10fps burst in AI Servo mode (in good light of course) and you get more good pictures than you know what to do with. This shot was taken late in the day as the sun was setting. Oh, hearing the 10 fps burst is going to make you smile also!

The girl and the horse are completely airborne at this moment. AI Servo AF mode with the top-most AF point active and 10 fps drive mode were used to capture the series of shots that included this one.

Tracking in AI Servo mode was used to capture this Common Tern in fast downwind flight. A fast-focusing lens is required to catch this type of shot.

This bird is a Laughing Gull, but I doubt it is laughing about that extra beak. Look closely and you will see a small orange beak-like growth below the main beak.

I really like the matching colors in the ball (no, I don't have any influence over the choice).

Low noise, high ISO 3200 enables action-stopping shutter speeds on even an f/2.8 lens well after sunset.
