The Gitzo Padded Tripod Bag GE14P is a really big, high quality tripod case.
I was (and still am as I write this review) looking for a quality tripod case that would hold my Gitzo G1548 Tripod with an original Wimberley Gimbal Head attached. Well, the Gitzo Padded Tripod Bag GE14P had no trouble holding my setup. In fact, I could add a few days worth of clothing along with the tripod and head. Although the original Wimberley Gimbal Head measures about 11" wide, the 7 7/8" diameter Gitzo GE14P actually measured closer to 10" and had about 2 1/2" more space than needed for even the head. Keep in mind that these diameter measurements expand and contract where you don't need the full diameter. Although my setup fit, it was too big for my taste. And my search continues as none of the other Gitzo padded tripod bags have the dimensions I need.
The Gitzo Padded Tripod Bag GE14P (according to Gitzo's specs) measures 33 1/2" long by 7 7/8".
Here is general information about Gitzo's Padded Tripod Bags ...
It is not hard to get a significant amount of money invested in quality tripods and ball Heads. You will want to protect your investment with an equally high quality tripod case. Gitzo padded tripod bags are made from a tough nylon material that Gitzo refers to as rainproof. Padding adds to the protection. Access to the bag is provided by a double-zipper. A small zippered pouch inside the bag can hold a remote release and other accessories. A double handle provides strong support and a shoulder strap makes transporting a tripod easier. A Velcro-covered luggage tag allows identification.
I recommend using Gitzo's dimensions to find the proper size case (models GE10P through GE15P) - not their recommended tripod fit.
