From Tokina:

Dear TOKINA AT-X 16-28 F2.8 PRO FX Lens Users!

Thank you for Your continued support.

This is to inform you that TOKINA AT-X 16-28 F2.8 PRO FX lens is not fully compatible with CANON EOS 6D MARK II DSLR camera released on August 4th 2017.

We found out that when TOKINA AT-X 16-28 F2.8 PRO FX is used on CANON EOS 6D MARK II during the “Live View” mode activated with “Lens aberration correction” function set to “Enable”, an error would occur. Glitch occurrence may also depend on lens focal length position. We suggest to set the “Lens aberration correction” function to “Disable” .

The “Lens aberration correction” can be set to “Disable” in case Program AE (P), Shutter Priority AE (Tv), Aperture Priority AE (Av) or Manual exposure shooting mode is selected.

Please also note that the error may also occur in case Tokina AT-X DX (APS-C) type lens are used on CANON EOS 6D MARK II camera.

When error occurred restart camera by removing and inserting camera battery.

Should you have any requirements or questions, do not hesitate to contact your nearest authorized Tokina distributor/ dealer.

As always, we express You our gratitude for using Tokina lenses.

I actually held onto this press release for a few days hoping a better version of it would surface (the release looks like it was authored in another language and run through Google Translate). Unfortunately, a more eloquent version never appeared. [Sean]

DECEMBER 28, 2015 – Kenko Tokina Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce the new AT-X 14-20 F2 PRO DX.

Characteristics

The fast F2.0 Zoom lens of Tokina
Since the maximum aperture of F2.0 is given this lens, it's possible to support the low sensitivity photography used ISO64 and ISO100 setting. The maximum aperture of F2.0 shows its power for the photography using the blur feeling and photography with the low brightness (In the room, In the night).

Adopt highly precise Plastic Aspherical lens
The 2nd lens group in this lens is adopted the plastic aspherical lens which improved surface accuracy, and is given antireflection coat. This lens is designed tough against ghost flare.

Arrange highly precise Glass molded Aspherical lens
2 pieces of super low dispersion glass molded aspherical lens is located in the back goup of the lens, and various aberration are corrected by these lenses.

Compact Body and Excellent Operability
Tokina’s exclusive One-touch Focus Clutch Mechanism allows the photographer to switch between AF/MF simply by sliding the focus ring, forward side for AF and back toward the camera for MF. This lens is designed as the fast aperture F2.0 in all focal range, but it is a compact body. This lens has a thread in the front frame, so it’s possible to attach filters of 82mm size.

The new Tokina AT-X 14-20 F2 PRO DX is an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens for the DX(APS-C) size, and has the maximum aperture of F2.0. In low brightness situation, use it demonstrates its preeminent power

From Kenko Tokina USA:

JUNE 23, 2015 – Kenko Tokina USA, Inc. is excited to announce the new Tokina AT-X 24-70mm F/2.8 PRO FX lens designed for use with Canon and Nikon full-frame sensor DSLR cameras.

Tokina’s latest addition to its family gives full-frame photographers a 24mm wide-angle to 70mm moderate telephoto lens with a fast F/2.8 aperture at an affordable price.

The new groundbreaking proprietary optical design uses three precision molded all-glass aspherical lens elements to achieve excellent contrast, sharpness, and corrects for spherical aberrations. One of these elements is very special and difficult to manufacture. G09, is made from Super-Low Dispersion (SD) glass and is a large sized aspherical element.

These lens elements also yield even illumination across the whole image sensor.

The Tokina 24-70MM lens also uses three SD (super-low Dispersion, “FK01” and FK03”) glass elements in the rear groups to control chromatic aberrations.

All these specialized lens elements work in consort to yield maximum resolution to match the 50-megapixel DSLR cameras entering the market.

The fast constant F/2.8 aperture makes viewing and auto focusing possible in very low light situations while keeping some flexibility for setting the shutter speed.

In addition to excellent optics, the lens incorporates a fast moving SDM (Silent Drive-Module) motor to greatly reduce AF noise making it one of Tokina’s quickest and quietest auto-focusing lenses to date.

Tokina’s exclusive One-touch Focus Clutch Mechanism allows the photographer to switch between AF and MF simply by snapping the focus ring forward for AF and back toward the lens mount for manual focusing. The lens is also designed to stand up to the rigors of daily use by photographers in a wide variety of shooting conditions and environments.

From Kenko Tokina USA:

APRIL 13, 2015 – Kenko Tokina USA, Inc. is pleased to announce the specialized Tokina Cinema Hydrophilic filters for broadcast and cinema use. Tokina Cinema Hydrophilic filters have a coating layer that does not allow water to bead up like traditional filter coatings. If water cannot bead it simply flows evenly off the filter surface making for clear viewing and recording even in a steady rain.

Water-drops on glass are formed by surface tension and adhesion. Once the weight of the water is sufficient to overcome the strength of these two forces the water beings to flow. This can be seen every time water drops first “stick to” and then cascade down a window when it rains.

The Tokina Cinema Hydrophilic coating does not allow surface adhesion so water drops cannot form. The coating Tokina Cinema Hydrophilic filters permanent and does not ever need to be reapplied, unlike over-the counter products that make a similar claim. The filter coating is “recharged” by UV light making it ideal for stationary weather cameras or other cameras that are being exposed to sunlight for several hours a day.*

Tokina Cinema Hydrophilic filters come in standard broadcast sizes from 77MM to 127MM as well as square and rectangular.

Specifications: Glass: Optical Clear Protector Glass
Coating: Multi-layer Proprietary Coating
Size Availability: 77MM, 82MM, 86MM, 95MM, 105MM, 112MM, 127MM, 4x4, 4x5.65
Retail Price: Starting at $405.00

From Kenko Tokina USA:

APRIL 13, 2015 – Kenko Tokina USA, Inc. is pleased to announce the Tokina Cinema IRND neutral density filters for cinematography.

The Tokina Cinema IRND filters use ACCU-ND technology to yield a truly neutral color balance that will not add any noticeable color cast to your footage. This series was created specifically for the cinema and HDSLR video markets.

The Metallic ACCU-ND coating on the IRND filters do not color shift as you move from one density to the next, a common problem with almost all other series of neutral density filters. Now you can set your white balance once and have the same color balance even if you need to change filters due to changes in lighting, or have multiple cameras with different strengths of filters on them.

The ACCU-ND metallic coating also has the added essential benefit of accurately controlling and suppressing infrared (IR) light so color fidelity is maintained. This is important as IR can add its own color cast when recording outside and manly other IR filters on the market add their own color cast that can be difficult to correct in post production.

The IRND filters use an exclusive clear optical glass that has a metallic ACCU-ND coating bonded to the surface of the glass to create the neutral density affect.

The Tokina IRND series has round filters in common sizes from 82MM to 127MM and strengths from one stop (0.3) to four stops (1.2). The series also has two square mat-box sizes that are available from one stop to 7 stops of light reduction.

Prices start at $210.00 for the 82MM size.

Tokina announced a new stabilized telephoto zoom to the Japanese market – the AT-X 70-200mm f/4 PRO FX VCM-S for Nikon. The google translation for the announcement is a little clunky, but you can find it on Tokina Japan's website.

Specifications

Focal length70-200 mm
Angle of view34.45 ° ~ 12.42 ° (35mm full format)
BrightnessF4
Lens constitution19 pieces of 14 group
Minimum focusing distance1.0 m
Maximum magnification macro1:3.57
Filter Size67mm
Size82mm (maximum diameter) X167.5 mm (total length)
Weight980 g
Supported FormatsTo 24x36mm (35mm full format)
Corresponding mountNikon DSLR (full-size solid-state image sensor)
JAN Code: 4961607 216 569

Thoughts – I'm assuming Tokina will eventually come out with a Canon version of this lens. The price quoted for the Nikon version in the Japanese market is 150,000 yen, or roughly $1,480.00 USD. At that price, it would exceed the MSRP of the similarly spec'd Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM. The specs indicate Tokina will be built like a tank (as most Tokinas are), with a much heavier weight in comparison (980g vs 760g). [Sean]

From Tokina:

Wide Zoom Range
The new Tokina AT-X 12-28mmF/4lens has a super-wide to standard zoom range while maintaining a constant fast f/4.0 aperture. This makes ita very versatile lens for different photo applications such as scenery, street scenes photography and event coverage. The lens is designed for DSLR cameras with APS-C (DX) sized sensors.

New Optical Design
A new optical design using aspherical elements and super-low dispersion glass matches even the highest mega-pixel DX sensors cameras available today.

One asphericallenselement is positioned in the front group. This together with another precision molded glass aspherical lens element placed in the rear group ideally focuses marginal light rays andmaintains sharpness at the edgeswhile also correcting distortion. The use of two different SD(Super-low Dispersion)glass elements,typeFK01 and FK03,correctschromatic aberration. The combination of all these specialized elements in the optical design yield excellent sharpness and color.

New Auto Focus Mechanism
The new AF “GMR magnetic precision” control sensor is capable offastauto-focus. Tokina placed the new sensor closerto the drive unit in the lens for faster communicationbetween the controller and AF motor. This combined with the motor's high-precision focus control yields faster, more accurate auto-focus.

Additionally, a brand new “SD-M” (Silent Drive-Module) has greatly lowered the sounds emitted by the auto focusdrive system allowing for much quieter AF. Both Canon and Nikon mounts have a built-in AF motor to make them auto-focus compatible with all current camera bodies.

Compact Body Design
The Tokin AT-X 12-28mmF/4 compact designmakes the lens easy to carry and handle. Manual focus is achieved through Tokina's one-touch focus clutch AF/MF mechanism. Simply slide the manual focus ring forward for auto-focus or back for manual focus operation. The lens focus ringis damped in the manual mode for smooth and precise focusing.

In addition thelens has a 77mm filter size allowing filters such as the Hoya HD2low-profilecircular polarizer or UV to be used.
