JACKSON, Mich. – PMA – The Worldwide Community of Imaging Associations, announces 2014 PMA@CES will be held Jan. 7-10, 2014, at the 2014 International CES®.
“We are fewer than three weeks away from 2013 PMA@CES, but we are already hard at work on the following year’s event – and we are happy to say it will again be held at CES,” said PMA Executive Director Jim Esp. “Offering PMA@CES at the International CES makes it much easier for attendees and exhibitors to discover everything that’s happening in the world of photography and digital imaging in one place, at one time – without the expense and time commitment of two different shows. We are also happy to announce the DIMA, PSPA/SPAA and AIE Conferences will again immediately precede 2014 PMA@CES, on Jan. 5-6, 2014.”
PMA President Allen Showalter commented, “It’s great to be partnering with CES again in 2014. The joining together of these two events allows attendees to experience not only all the digital imaging and photography exhibits at both CES and PMA@CES, but also a huge array of other consumer electronics and technologies that are relevant to our industry. In addition to being able to interact with all the top companies and industry members at PMA@CES, there are plenty of opportunities at CES for our trade and supplier members to network with people in related industries, and find additional ways to increase their revenue streams.”
As is the case for 2013 PMA@CES, the 2014 PMA@CES event will be held at the LVH, an official venue of the International CES, adjacent to the Las Vegas Convention Center.

PMA@CES: Where imaging technology meets technique
JACKSON, Mich. – PMA – The Worldwide Community of Imaging Associations announced details of its compelling four-day educational line-up coinciding with the 2012 International CES in Las Vegas, Nev. For the first time, photo-industry members can combine the famous Digital Imaging Marketing Association (DIMA) conference with the classic PMA education program, along with attending hundreds of PMA@CES exhibits.
“PMA@CES is shaping up to be the largest photo technology and education event ever,” says Ted Fox, executive director and CEO, PMA. “By partnering with the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), PMA@CES offers an unprecedented opportunity to explore emerging technologies at the acres of exhibits, then enjoy industry-specific classes, seminars and networking opportunities.
“Hotels and flights will fill up fast, so retailers, photographers and lab owners – especially those who have not attended a past CES -- should register right away,” advises Fox. Since registration opened for PMA@CES, more than 4,000 trade registrations have already been received.
The DIMA program, Jan. 8-9, 2012, at Bally’s Las Vegas, features five tracks: “Professional Imaging,” “Retail Strategy,” “Social Media,” “Photo Publishing” and “IS&T Technology for Digital Photo Fulfillment.” DIMA is the unsung hero of the PMA experience, giving attendees exposure to cutting-edge concepts to help attendees market imaging products and services better, to build a stronger business base, to increase revenue and to become more efficient and profitable.
The 2012 DIMA conference, which requires a separate fee from the PMA educational program, includes a PMA@CES Exhibits Plus Pass, which allows access to exhibit show floor, keynote addresses, SuperSession and select conference sessions. The full program and registration information is available here.
The PMA@CES Conference takes place Jan. 10-12, 2012, at The Venetian, the hub for all things photo at CES. Two tracks – “Retail Strategy for the Photo Industry” and “Trends and Technology” – offer a clear picture of opportunities in photo and the future direction of digital imaging. These educational sessions are the perfect complement to the PMA@CES exhibits at The Venetian.
Because of the relationship with CEA, photo industry members will have access to dozens of different workshops, all designed to elevate their expertise in marketing, technology, social media and sales, as well as the renowned CES Keynotes.
There are thousands of PMA members who have never attended CES, the largest consumer electronics show, and PMA@CES offers a unique opportunity. The International CES typically draws more than 140,000 attendees each year and, with the Venetian serving as the PMA@CES hub, PMA photo retailers, imaging labs and professional photographers will have an opportunity to experience the excitement of both.

The event begins Friday, Feb. 17, with a kick-off reception, and PSPA and SPAA programming will be held Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 18-19, 2012.
Conference attendees can attend without charge the Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) trade show, Feb. 20-23, 2012, at the MGM Grand Hotel, Las Vegas, Nev.
In 2011, nearly 560 attendees spent two full days attending sessions, luncheons, and receptions. The show also included a Vendor Reception, which many members cite as a highlight, says 2011-2012 PSPA President Bill Glover of Strawbridge Studios Inc.
"Overall, the response to the [2011] show was overwhelmingly positive,” says Glover. “There were lots of familiar faces but also many new ones as well. I love the turnout we had, and the tracks were well-received.”
“PMA remains committed to these two important photographer groups,” says Ted Fox, executive director, PMA. “This arrangement allows PMA to continue to provide industry-specific educational and networking opportunities at this more convenient timeframe to these important industry segments.”
SPAA Committee members are enthusiastic as well with the announcement, heading into their 6th annual conference since joining as a member association of PMA.
"Those of us working in sports photography as a career are hungry for information and embrace the opportunity to exchange ideas with fellow industry colleagues," says Tom Hayes, Visual Image Photography Inc., Cedarburg, Wis., and chairperson, SPAA committee. “We are going to have a focused group of photographers and vendors meeting together, networking, and figuring out together how to make our respective businesses and industries prosper."
Canon UK has announced that its Pro Solutions 2011 show – a two-day event for photography, video, and broadcast professionals – will be held on 25 and 26 October 2011 at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London.
Now in its third year, Pro Solutions has been designed to be the largest and most comprehensive consumer-focused exhibition of Canon’s imaging products where visitors can experience Canon’s complete workflow solutions, from image capture to output. Its aims are to educate and inspire visitors and to demonstrate to them how Canon technologies, and those of compatible products, can be used in their digital workflow to generate increased revenue and business.
The Pro Solutions 2011 show will be centred on extensive displays of Canon products, including professional DSLR cameras, L-series lenses, pro HD camcorders, large format and A3 inkjet printers, and broadcast lenses. Visitors will have the opportunity to see live demonstrations of professional workflow solutions, plus there will be a comprehensive schedule of free seminars given by Canon Ambassadors and renowned photographers and filmmakers from a wide spectrum of genres.
The convergence of stills and video technology will be an extremely important element of the show and visitors will be able to gain a greater understanding of how to develop and evolve their businesses in a rapidly changing market. As in previous years there will be a wide range of companies at the show who provide tailored products, services and solutions to professionals, and visitors will be able to ‘try and buy’ products at the show.
Susie Donaldson, Consumer Marketing Director, Canon UK and Ireland said: "We are delighted that the Pro Solutions show will return again in 2011. The feedback from visitors and exhibitors from last year’s show was very positive. Last year professional image makers used the show to get hands-on with the entire Canon professional range, and the information shared at the seminars and live demonstrations gave them a vital insight into how to maximise their business potential. Canon is proud of our unique proposition of image-capture to image-output, and the content for this year’s Pro Solutions Show 2011 looks set to be really exciting."
Entrance to Pro Solutions will be free for all those who pre-register online. The show opening times will be from 11am to 8pm on Tuesday 25 October and from 10am to 5pm on Wednesday 26 October.
