Nikon has issued several software updates for compatibility with the D850. See below for more details.



Capture NX-D v.1.4.6

Changes from Version 1.4.5 to 1.4.6

  • Added support for the D850.
  • Added support for the D850’s new White balance > Natural light auto option.
  • Added the following features to support D5 “C” firmware version 1.20:
    • Added support for group-area AF (HL) and group-area AF (VL).
    • The color temperature for pictures shot using auto white balance can now be viewed in the metadata tab.

Capture NX-D 1.4.3

Changes from Version 1.4.2 to 1.4.3

  • Added support for the D5600.
  • Added a Size of Text and Icon option to Preferences > View.
  • Preferences > Open With Application now offers the following Conversion Format options for images opened using the selected application: JPEG, TIFF (8 Bit), and TIFF (16 Bit).
  • The print dialog now offers Use thumbnail data (draft mode) and Specify color profile options.
  • The Print information item in the print dialog now offers User Comment and Lens options.
  • Fixed the following issues:
    • Adjustments saved using the Register Updated Adjustments option in the Adjustments section of the Edit panel would not be correctly applied if the saved adjustments were selected after Capture NX-D was restarted.
    • NEF (RAW) images saved to NAS could not be edited.
    • The colors in images opened in Capture NX-D would differ from those of images opened in other applications such as Capture NX 2 or View NX 2.

  • Photos and movies shot with the KeyMission 360 are now identified with different icons.
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes resulted in the Folder Naming option not being applied when sub-folders were created in the destination folder for the Convert Files option.

Camera Control Pro 2.24.0

Nikon has just udpated several programs as a result of the D3400's announcement. You can find the details below.

Capture NX-D 1.4.2

Changes from Version 1.4.1 to 1.4.2

  • Added support for the D3400 and COOLPIX W100.
  • Fixed the following issues:
    • Capture NX-D would show images marked with a label or rating in ViewNX-i as having been edited.
    • Photos taken with the D500 would be converted to gray images if Convert Files was used after Fisheye was applied.
    • Images modified and saved in other format in Capture NX-D after labels had been applied in ViewNX-i could not be opened in Capture NX 2.

ViewNX-i 1.2.3

  • Added support for the D3400 and COOLPIX W100.
  • A Close Filmstrip option is now available in the Viewer Settings for Image Viewer and Full Screen modes.

  • Fixed an issue that caused the lens type for pictures taken with type E lenses mounted on the D4S or earlier Nikon D-SLR cameras to be listed as type G in the camera info display.
  • A Movies item has been added to the Options menu giving you the option of selecting Favor frame rate.

Wireless Transmitter Utility 1.6.1

Changes from Versions 1.5.5 to 1.6.1

  • The D5 and D500 are now supported.
  • The WT-7 and WT-6 wireless transmitters are now supported.
  • Turkish is now supported.
  • Windows 10 is now supported.

Cautions for Users of the UT-1

  • When a UT-1 is connected to a D4 or D7000 camera, the software will in addition to the Transfer mode and PC mode options display Thumbnail select mode and Print mode options, but latter-named two options cannot be used.
  • When using the Wireless Transmitter Utility to configure connection settings for a D4S, D4, or D7000, be sure to select WT-4/UT-1 (functions as WT-4) when prompted to select hardware.
  • When using the Wireless Transmitter Utility to configure connection settings for a D7100 or D800/D800E (firmware versions A 1.10/B 1.10), be sure to select Wired LAN when prompted to select hardware. If you are using a UT-1 with a WT-5 wireless transmitter, select WT-5 (wireless LAN).
  • When using a D4S or D4 with the UT-1, select WT-4 for Network > Choose hardware in the camera SETUP MENU.

Updates included with 1.1.0

Modifications that apply to both the Windows and Macintosh versions:

  • Support for the D5500, COOLPIX S3700, S2900, L32 and L31 has been added.
  • When Capture NX-D is used to edit files that were once edited with Capture NX 2, additional adjustment of editing performed with Capture NX 2 is now possible.
  • However, only items in the Develop section of the Capture NX 2 Edit List can be adjusted with Capture NX-D. In addition, images that have been edited using Color Efex Pro may be edited after settings are reverted to their original values.
  • A PF Flare Control item has been added to the Camera and Lens Corrections palette.
  • This item can be used to reduce flare (ring flare, circular flare, etc.) caused by bright light sources in images captured with compatible lenses.
  • A Revert to Last Saved State option has been added to the Adjust menu.
  • This option resets adjustments applied with Capture NX-D.
  • A Launch Camera Control Pro 2 option has been added to the Tool menu.

The following issues have been resolved.

  • When images to which Distortion Control has been applied are opened, edges were fringed with color.
  • When Noise Reduction was applied, the application would quit unexpectedly.
  • When a RAW image captured with a camera that does not support the Picture Control system (D2XS, D2X, D2HS, D2H, D1X, D1H, D1, D200, D100, D90, D80, D70S, D70, D60, D40X, D40) was displayed, the icon indicating that the image had been edited was displayed, even if the image had not actually been edited.
  • When Quick Adjust was applied to RAW images captured at a Picture Control setting of Neutral, Flat, or Monochrome, and for which Recorded Value was selected in the Picture Control palette, the Quick Adjust value reverted back to "0.00" when the images were again displayed in Capture NX-D after the application was once closed and then launched again.
  • A Noise Reduction setting of Better Quality 2013 could be selected for JPEG and TIFF images.

Additional modifications to the Windows version
The following issues have been resolved.

  • Multiple images in the My Pictures folder could not be selected to copy or move under Windows 7 or an earlier operating system.
  • When files were saved with different file names using the Convert Files function, the new file names were not accurately reflected.

Additional modifications to the Macintosh version

  • Support for OS X version 10.10.1 has neen added.
  • OS X version 10.7.5 is no longer supported.

Updates that apply to both the Windows and Macintosh versions

  • When images were adjusted in any of the following ways using Edit palette functions, and Capture NX-D was then launched again, the results of adjustments were not reflected. This issue has been resolved.
  • When White Balance was fine-tuned after selecting Use Gray Point or using the Gray Point Sample Tool
  • When the Quick Adjust setting under Picture Control was changed
  • When the luminosity curve was adjusted by moving the black-point input slider to a setting other than "0" with Master Lightness selected for LCH
  • When the chroma curve was adjusted by moving the output slider to a setting other than "0" with Chroma selected for LCH
  • When the tone curve was adjusted by moving the Levels & Curves black-point input slider to a setting other than "0"
  • When a settings file, with which the Quick Adjust setting under Picture Control had been changed, was saved, the value saved for Quick Adjust only was "0". This issue has been resolved.
  • When RAW images captured with cameras that support the Better Quality 2013 option for Noise Reduction in the Edit palette were adjusted, and the Intensity setting under Luminance was once changed to "0", subsequent changes to the Intensity setting were not reflected. This issue has been resolved.
  • When the output slider was moved to a setting other than "0" with Chroma selected for LCH in the Edit palette, anchor points could not be added to the chroma curve at the intended positions. This issue has been resolved.
  • When multiple images were captured with a User Custom Curve modified using a camera that does not support Picture Controls applied, changes made to the User Custom Curve during shooting were not reflected in images captured after the User Custom Curve had been changed. This issue has been resolved.

Additional modifications to the Windows version

  • When Capture NX-D was launched with a single-display system after having been used with a multi-display system, an error was displayed and the application could not be launched. This issue has been resolved.
  • An issue that sometimes caused Capture NX-D to freeze when keyboard operations were performed while working with the Edit palette has been resolved.

Additional modifications to the Macintosh version

  • When the keyboard shortcut (SHIFT + 0) was used to delete ratings, labels rather than ratings were deleted. This issue has been resolved.
