Golden Gate National Recreation Area thumbnails only

The Golden Gate Bridge, the namesake for the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, is readily available to be photographed. It is generally up to the sky to give you something unusual for your Golden Gate Bridge photos.

A late afternoon sun lights up the sky along the California coast. This shot was captured from Fort Barry. I planned to shoot the sunset from this location, but the pre-sunset show proved to be excellent as well.

Cavallo Point offers lodging in finely renovated officer's quarters in the former military base located beside the Golden Gate Bridge.

A great time to shoot illuminated structures is when the light in the sky balances with the light on the structure. This is also typically a great time to shoot completely motion-blurred bodies of water. Both of these features come together at the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. The sand on the Central California Coast beaches seems change color and texture in nearly every cove. The pebble sand in Rodeo Cove qualified as a "texture in nature" for me.

Baker Beach in San Francisco affords a good view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Here I timed the shot with a wave crashing on the rocks. And then clone stamped all of the footprints out of the sand.
 
Warning to those planning to visit Baker Beach: apparently clothing is optional on the north end of the beach. I learned that the hard way.

With chocolate-colored sand, sea stacks, colorful water and great wave action, Rodeo Cove Beach in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area provides many opportunities for the photographer. Here I timed a wave crashing on the dark rocks.
